All About Invisalign®

Today’s dental patients have more teeth straightening options than ever, and one that’s been increasingly popular is Invisalign®. As a type of aligner therapy, Invisalign offers an entirely new way to correct crooked, gapped, or misaligned teeth compared to the conventional braces that have been around for decades. Still deciding if it’s right for you? Read on to get the scoop on Invisalign!

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign treatment involves wearing a series of clear, custom-made plastic aligners (also called trays). These aligners push your teeth into their new positions, as opposed to the wires and brackets of braces, which pull teeth. You wear each set for a couple weeks and then move on to the next set. You’ll be able to see your teeth get straighter and straighter with each new set you wear.

What Can Invisalign Fix?

Invisalign is capable of fixing spacing issues, crookedness, gaps, and misalignment. It’s best for you to have a consultation with a dentist so they can say for sure whether Invisalign treatment is right for your teeth straightening needs.

How Do You Clean Invisalign Trays?

It’s easy! Invisalign creates cleaning crystals that you can use if you’d like, but really all you have to do is brush and rinse them in lukewarm water. Just make sure you brush your teeth after eating and before you pop your trays back in so that food and bacteria don’t get stuck between them.

How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?

Every Invisalign case is unique, so treatment length time varies too. On average, Invisalign treatment ranges from around 9 months to 18 months. Once you’ve had a consultation and your dentist has given you a treatment plan, they can give you an accurate estimate based on your needs. It’s important to remember to stick to the guidelines of how long you should wear your trays each day (at least 20 to 22 hours a day) otherwise you may end up lengthening your treatment.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

As with many other dental services, the cost of Invisalign can vary depending on how complex your case is, and, as a result, how long treatment will take. In general, the price of Invisalign is either a little bit more or around the same as the price of traditional braces.
