As part of our family dentistry services, we offer complete preventive care. Prevention is the best way to keep your teeth and gums healthy for a long time. When Dr. Miranda is able to track your oral health over time, she will be able to quickly fix any issues that may arise and you will avoid major treatments in the future. You will save time, money, and inconvenience down the road with the preventive dental care we provide at Texas Dental.
The American Dental Association recommends routine exams and cleanings every six months. At your appointment, our hygienist will clean every surface of every tooth, as well as between teeth. She’ll also clean along your gum line.
Periodontal (Gum) Care
If your gums are tender, red, or bleed when you floss or brush, you might have some level of gum disease. Mild gum disease, or gingivitis, can be easily resolved with a trip to our office for a cleaning, as well as proper at-home care. If your gum issues are more severe, however, Dr. Miranda might recommend a deep cleaning, such as a periodontal scaling or root planing and scaling.
Composite Dental Fillings
Fillings are a common dental procedure we use to repair a tooth with decay, cracks, or fractures. Our fillings are a tooth-colored composite that match your other teeth, giving your restoration a seamless look and feel.
While keeping your natural teeth is always our number one goal, sometimes a tooth is too damaged or infected to be saved. In those cases, we recommend a tooth extraction, which we can perform in our office. A simple extraction is the removal of a tooth that is already visible in your mouth. If your tooth hasn’t erupted yet, the procedure is more complicated and will involve surgery. This can happen if the crown of your tooth breaks off at the gum line or if you need a wisdom tooth extraction. Dr. Miranda has many years of experience with both simple and complicated tooth extractions.
Nightguards & Athletic Mouthguards
Some people subconsciously grind their teeth at night while they sleep and cause damage to their teeth and jaw. We can make a custom-fitted nightguard that will protect your teeth against grinding and reduce the symptoms of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder. TMJ can cause headaches, jaw pain, and other painful conditions.
Did you know that if you don’t wear a mouthguard during a sporting event, you are 60 times more likely to damage your teeth? Those aren’t good odds! At Texas Dental, we can fit you with a mouthguard that will provide protection from injury during sporting events.
