Losing a tooth can have a big impact on your dental health, personal appearance, and self confidence. If you lose a tooth, it can throw off the balance of your other teeth, and cause them to move out of position. This shift in your teeth can affect your bite, cause the loss of additional teeth, and lead to decay and gum disease. If you are missing a tooth, Dr. Miranda may recommend the placement of a bridge. A dental bridge is one or more replacement teeth anchored by one or more crowns on each side.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal therapy is needed when the root of a tooth becomes infected. This infection is usually extremely painful and will heal only when the infection has been removed. To perform a root canal, Dr. Miranda will drill down through the top the tooth into the inner chamber and remove the infected tissue. After the diseased tissue is removed, and the inside of your tooth has been cleaned and disinfected, she will fill up the area with an elastic material and additional medication to prevent infection in the future.
A dental crown is a replacement tooth that encases the entire surface of the original tooth. Your crown will be crafted to match the shade, shape, and size of your other teeth, so your smile will look as good as ever. Crowns are extremely durable and if taken care of properly, will last many years.
Veneers are made of a wafer thin porcelain material that is cemented over the front of a tooth. Veneers will cosmetically improve teeth that are broken, discolored, misshapen, crooked, chipped, or unevenly spaced.
No matter how regularly you brush and floss, teeth will slowly become dull and lose their natural whiteness over time. Teeth are exposed to many different elements every single day that will cause them to stain. Foods such as pasta sauce, wine, and coffee are just a few of the kinds of food that will stain your teeth. Luckily, you can have your teeth professionally whitening at Texas Dental and get your smile’s dazzle back!
